Glazed Coil Pot
In addition to all the progress I made this week, I also glazed my coil pot. I was really happy I got a chance to paint a design on a clean surface as apposed to painting a design. I also made sure I painted even coats by using a lazy susan to turn the pot for me.
Double Pinch Pot Jar Critique
I like everything about this project, especially how smooth it came out. I can improve my future projects by making sure I am careful when handling them because the lid accidentally fell off while I was looking at the bottom (while it was still soft clay). Luckily I was able to fix it. I learned how to make a double pinch pot jar and also some new technique to texture clay.
Slab Box
I got a lot done this week starting with my slab box. I used slip to give it the dripping effect, I love how it's looking so far and hope it goes well.

Name Tile Critique
I like how well the colors of the glazes I chose look together. I can improve my future projects by making sure I'm smoothing over places where I have scored and filling in those lines. This project helped me express myself and get into ceramics because this was the first project we started this semester.

Critter Critique
I liked everything about how my critters. I especially like how my use of colors made the surfaces look sort of textured. I can improve my future projects by paying extra attention to areas where I slip and score as well as checking what kind of glaze I am using (i.e. opaque vs translucent). This project helped me learn how to modify pinch pots, so they can become much more! ---My name tile is still in the kiln, but I gave it a dark blue glaze background, glazed the sun orange and moon yellow, and my name is in a sort of aqua color. I hope to post it on Monday!---

Glazing of Pinch Pot Creatures
Good progress on glazing I've finished my turtle and added a clear coat (not shown) and I'm almost done with my shark!! I love how they're turning out so far!!!
Pinch Pot Critique
I liked how my choice of different glazes made my pots more interesting. I can improve my future projects by making sure I apply 3 even coats of each glaze and making sure I smooth out all of my sharp edges. This project helped me learn how to make pinch pots and use glazes.

Almost Done!
I've finally finished designing my name tile. I put my name diagonally across the tile, under it put the sun, and above the moon with a small star. It will be fired hopefully this weekend and then to start glazes! :D

Principles of Design Project.
To more fully understand the principles of design we were given the assignment to create a sculpture that represented some of them. In my sculpture, I represented movement with the use of the large yellow ring (circles show movement also balance), the grey/brown piece looks like its going through the yellow ring and back through again (like infinity sign), and the thin orange piece that looks like its blowing in the wind. I showed contrast with my use of different colors. By putting the bright orange in the middle of the circle I showed emphasis. There is also variety in my sculpture because there are different colors and shapes.I thought this was a fun assignment.

All About Me
Heyyy! My name is Martha Hall. I am a Sophomore at Bishop Gorman High School. I am currently taking Ceramics 1. I chose to take ceramics because I really like pottery and thought it would be a fun class. My favorite class, besides Ceramics, is Biology. I am in the Bishop Gorman Thespian Society and also am looking forward to joining some new clubs this year. Outside of school I do competitive cheer at Las Vegas Elements. My team is Blaze. My goal for this semester is to get good grades and learn some cool new stuff.
